Without a solid strategy,
you’re just guessing

All too often we see managers and business owners...

Dealing with
inefficient energy systems,
poor integration between equipment and reporting tools, and taking a reactive approach to energy management rather than proactive planning.

Struggling to
interpret and understand their energy data, justify upfront costs, and prioritise sustainability alongside other pressing business objectives.

Unsure of
where to start, what they need, and who to trust.

Strategy solves problems by getting on the front foot

We work with you to identify your energy and sustainability goals and then find practical and effective ways to achieve them.

We’re motivated by doing what’s best for you and your business.

Your situation, challenges, and wants are unique, and so should be your strategy.

Our strategies

Net Zero Navigator - Sustainability Strategy

Guiding your organisation towards a low emissions future

Tandem’s Net Zero Navigator provides you with a clear roadmap and specific targets to focus your efforts, using our structured approach to ensure a practical yet aspirational path.

Whether you’re just starting to think about your carbon footprint or are already actively pursuing emissions reduction, Tandem can help you find a clearer path.

In today’s complex and rapidly changing landscape where environmental concerns intersect with economic considerations, and technology advances quickly, the challenge of setting the right targets and devising effective strategies to achieve them can be daunting.

We make the journey to sustainability possible.

Location

Before you can decide where to go, you need to know where you are now. Once we understand your business operations and stakeholder expectations, our first step is to undertake a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory (carbon footprint) to the Climate Active standard, including energy consumption, transportation, supply chain, and waste management. This helps identify your primary emissions sources as well as any data gaps.

Outcomes

Destination

Once we understand where you are now, the next step is to determine where you will end up if you keep travelling the way you are, and where you should be.

We calculate a business-as-usual trajectory for your business as far as 2040 and compare this to the Science Based Targets expectations for your industry. Combining this with other relevant factors, such as industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, as well as your own values and commitment to environmental responsibility, we identify potential targets and destinations for your journey.

Outcomes

Routes

The most important step in your journey, having worked out where you are, and where you want to end up, is to work out the possible routes.

The first thing we do is step back and take a long view of all the opportunities for emissions reduction available to you given your unique position, industry, and ambitions. This includes consideration of both emerging and well established technologies. We then engage with your key decision makers and implementors to discuss advantages and disadvantages, interdependencies, risks and practicality to create a shortlist of the most desirable and likely opportunities to investigate further. with other relevant factors, such as industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, as well as your own values and commitment to environmental responsibility, we identify potential targets and destinations for your journey.

Outcomes

Itinerary

Our team of data analysts, researchers and specialists analyse the opportunities in the shortlist to determine their likely costs, emissions reduction potential, and other implications, presenting these in an emission reduction register and marginal abatement cost curve to support clear decision making.

We also identify your organisation’s roadblocks to action and the catalysts you  need to activate.

The catalysts are the essential actions required to support your emissions reduction, such as data management strategies, staff education and more.

Outcomes

Roadmap

The final element to successful navigation is to map the actions required to achieve your destination. We look at how the implementation of different opportunities can affect your 2040 destination and prioritise them to develop a 2 year action plan outlining the first critical steps.

Most importantly, we develop a short, precise presentation suitable for Board or key stakeholder presentation, designed to quickly educate and excite them about the opportunities for emissions reduction and ongoing benefits for the organisation.

Outcomes

Journey

Once the roadmap is delivered, we don’t just leave you to continue the journey alone. Our team is prepared to travel with you all the way, from policy development and staff education, to project implementation through to certification if you choose.

Energy Management Strategy

Understand, plan, and track your energy needs and usage.

We take an in-depth view of your organisation’s energy landscape and identify all of the power-consuming factors that contribute to your operations.

Energy-saving measures and smart procurement reduces operational costs, often significantly. Long-term planning helps businesses manage price fluctuations and avoid unexpected energy expenses.

Understanding risks and identifying opportunities ensures business continuity during energy supply disruptions.

Developing an energy strategy encourages innovation, such as adopting renewable technologies or optimising production processes. It can lead to identifying new revenue streams, such as energy trading or participating in renewable energy credits markets.

Energy strategies uncover the opportunities and potential of integrating smart technologies and automated systems, optimising energy use while streamlining operations and improving overall efficiency.

An energy management strategy equips businesses with data-driven insights and clear priorities, enabling smarter and more cost-effective decision-making.

Our strategies are framed around the four essentials of integrated energy management:

Security of supply
Making sure you have the power you need.

Security of price
Reducing costs, ongoing.

Energy efficiency
Lowering costs further and extending your equipment’s lifespan.

Environmental stewardship
A good energy management plan has positive environmental flow-on effects.

Map stakeholders
The most effective strategies are those which engage at all levels, from owners and executives to maintenance staff and trusted contractors.

Define key objectives
Establishing high-level objectives sets our focus and ensures the strategy aligns with the organisation’s broader vision, sustainability goals, and operational priorities.

Obtain baseline data
Gathering accurate baseline data provides a foundation for setting clear targets, identifying inefficiencies, tracking progress, and quantifying the impact of implemented energy measures.

Goal and strategy development
We take a collaborative approach to help generate innovative ideas and ensure buy-in from all levels of the organisation for successful energy strategy implementation.

Tactical planning
We outline practical steps to achieving your goals. A well-designed framework outlines the necessary processes, communication strategies, and financial resources to effectively manage and support energy initiatives.

Implementation and ongoing review
We love turning plans into actions. We’re happy to help implement your strategy through our Project Delivery services, or just monitor and help out when needed through our ongoing Support services.

Electrification Strategy

Plan a move from fossils to future

A comprehensive plan to reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels by transitioning to cleaner, renewable, and more sustainable energy sources.
