understanding data

Gathering your school’s energy data is an important first step in understanding how your school uses energy. This data is then be used as a baseline for students to develop and deliver energy saving initiatives.

We start our Watts Next program with an Energy Health Check.  This is a quick and low-cost way to gather the information we need and includes:

  • Energy bill review including SA Power Networks tariff and metering charges
  • Meter data analysis
  • Solar feasibility assessment, if relevant
  • Easy to understand report highlighting potential energy and cost saving opportunities

interpreting data

This data can then be graphically represented so that students can understand how to interpret data and how to utilise it understand the energy saving opportunities in the school. In our data session we cover:

  • Understanding energy data – patterns and comparison to other schools
  • How much energy various appliances consume
  • Energy saving opportunities
